We are delighted to announce a Holiday Bazaar on Sunday November 10th, 2013 to benefit Chris Sauerbaum’s Drive For Independence. Chris works very hard to support his family despite the obstacles of his Chronic Inflammatory demyelinating polyneuropathy, CIDP for short. It is a neuromuscular disease that causes nerve damage and weakness that landed him in a wheelchair at age 12. He now requires specialized equipment to be able to get him and his wheelchair into a vehicle and also very specialized hand controls to allow him to drive the vehicle. Having this vehicle would allow him to get to his full-time job independently and help out with family tasks many people take for granted.
Please join us to help support Chris Sauerbaum’s dream of driving his own vehicle. The event will run from 11:00am-3:30pm on November 10th and will be held at the Hellam Fire Hall: 163 East Market St., York, PA 17406. Funds raised at the event will go towards a $10,000 down payment on a specially modified, wheelchair accessible Chevrolet Silverado from Mobility SVM. Having his own vehicle will allow Chris to drive back and worth to work without assistance and spend more time with his family. Ride-Away, a company that provides wheelchair accessible vehicles and mobility equipment, will be bring a wheelchair accessible truck to demonstrate this amazing technology and show off what we’ve been working so hard for.
Various vendors are signed up to attend the event, ranging from one-of-a-kind handmade goods to favorites such as Thirty-one gifts, Pampered Chef, and Mary Kay, as well as food vendors with soups and desserts. We will also have a photo booth and a kids’ corner so there are plenty of activities for your entire family! We even have a Snap-On Tools dealer coming for dad!
Please join us in what we hope is our first of many successful events. Our goal is to keep this going yearly and to be able to help other individuals with limited mobility to reach their dreams of working and driving as well!
